Big Holes are very hard to fill, fix or stitch. Sometimes we have holes in our hearts either from death, sickness, children or siblings. How do you go about fixing a hole in your heart???? We know that over time the sorrow softens just a little and is replaced with happier times and memories. I have a void in my life and it won't be fixed soon....Is it because I don't want it to? No, I do want it to be fixed. So I am going to use an analogy to try and convey my thoughts. When a cat is wounded, it will lick its wound. Then the cat will lick and lick and lick the wound until it becomes a bigger sore and the skin is raw with no hair. In order for the cat to get healed there are two things that need to happen. First, it needs to heal from the inside and second the cat needs to stop licking its wound. For a cat the inside is healed using antibiotics....with a human to fill a void the person needs to fill it with love, christ, charity and forgiveness. To heal the cat on the outside it needs to stop licking its wounds. This is done by putting a cone over its head to prevent it from licking. How does a human stop licking its wounds??? I think I will look funny with that cone on my head.

Travis P.
Travis passed away today...I have such emotions running around in my heart and head. My eyes keep watering. The heavens have accepted a great man, brother, husband, son, grandson and cousin. Lana will get a companion and Mandy loses hers. May Travis rest in peace and Mandy have the strength to raise her strippling warriors. May God bless the Poll, Hawker and Beus families for the passing of their loved ones to CANCER. Three young men died of esophogeal cancer. Way before their time...all leaving small or teenage children. If you have heartburn get it checked or start taking Nexium or Previcid on a regular basis....Have them check for Barretts Esophogus. Big Hugs to the Poll Family.

Grouse Creek 4th of July
Last year 2009, I made a quilt for the Grouse Creek 4th of July celebration along with my Dad who is 82. The celebration last year consisted of a dance both on Friday and Saturday nights. We thought that it may be too expensive for people to pay for the dance on Friday and then turn around and pay for another dance on Saturday...so we made the quilt to be raffled in order to have the Saturday night dance FREE. My Dad and I are going to make another quilt this year for the same reasons. I am so excited. I am going to make a Americana/4th of July/Cowboy theme for the embroidery. My Dad has already made the levi squares and I put on the first design this morning. Can't wait to post the pictures when it is done. Since I am trying to blog for now and also blog for the past....here is a picture of last years quilt...It is a brand quilt of the brands of some of the people who either live or have lived in Grouse Creek. It was a huge success and it was won by Jay and Diane Tanner. What is funny about this quilt is that we actually had Jay's brand wrong..Oops. But neither me or my Dad was comfortable with him having a quilt with his brand being wrong soooo. We made another quilt and gave it to them...What a bonus they got 2 quilts made from my Dad. WooHoo. Stay tuned for the pictures of 2010 quilt the birdhouse is similar to the one I used today.

Lana's Flower Arrangement
A flower arrangement...just not any arrangement. I made this arrangement when my cousin Lana died in 2006 suddenly and unexpectedly. She was too full of life and way to young to pass away. I try and make arrangements to match the person. This one is Lana to me. Now her son Travis is leaving us. The arrangement is also Travis...Love, Charity, Kindness. Travis was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer in 2008 and has fought a hard fight. He will leave behind the love of his life Mandy and 4 children under the age of 11. It is just really hard to see them go through this. Lana had so many flowers, way to many to keep, that the family distributed them out to everyone. So....my Mom picked mine back up. This Morning I delivered them to Travis' door step. I think some will think it is tacky...I think some will just have to get over it. I just kept getting this feeling to take them to him while he can see them. I learned along time ago to listen to my still small voice inside me. As the saying goes "I would rather have flowers while I am alive, then a thousand when I am dead". I only hope that they match something in Mandys house. May our Heavenly Father watch after this sweet family during their trials.
